Research shows that one of the most powerful factors in counseling is the therapeutic relationship between the client and counselor. A strong connection fosters safety, trust, and a sense of being truly known and heard. That’s why finding the right fit is so important. Sometimes, you recognize that fit through a website—perhaps in a counselor’s photo, their voice, or even the name of their practice.
I chose Kindred Counseling PNW with intention, drawn to the word kindred.
Kindred speaks to a deep sense of connection and understanding. In Anne of Green Gables, Lucy Maud Montgomery beautifully captures this idea when Anne refers to certain people as kindred spirits—those with whom she feels truly seen and understood. This is the kind of therapeutic relationship I hope to offer: one where you feel safe, valued, heard, and deeply known.
As a compassionate listener, I strive to create a safe space for clients to share their stories. Speaking lived experiences out loud is a courageous step toward healing, breaking down walls of silence, isolation, shame, and guilt. Healing isn’t something you do alone — it unfolds when you are seen, heard, and met with care. You don’t need everything figured out or the “right” words. You are welcome to arrive exactly as you are, and we will take the next steps together.

About Melody
I was born and raised here in the Pacific Northwest. Throughout my life I have remained deeply passionate about women’s health, advocacy, and supporting marginalized communities. As a former victim advocate in Whatcom County, I was able to support and encourage hurting individuals through some of the most difficult times of their life. As a mother, my own lived experiences in postpartum seasons deeply influenced my decision to expand my therapeutic focus to include perinatal mental health.
